Quick and Easy Homemade Ice Cream

Start your ice cream sundae right with homemade ice cream worth screaming for. Here is a beginner-friendly recipe for vanilla ice cream:

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until smooth. Then, in a saucepan over medium-low heat, begin warming the milk. As the milk begins to simmer, gradually add the egg/sugar mixture and stir constantly. Once the mixture reaches 165 degrees, remove from heat and refrigerate in an air-tight container until it reaches 65 degrees. Once your custard has chilled, add the cream and vanilla. From there, you’ll need an ice cream maker to take it the rest of the way.
